|Beyond Measure: The EP
|A lot can happen in the life of a musician in a decade. It has been ten years since the completion of Justin’s last
solo project, and a whole lot has changed. In 2007 he got the call to join a group of his musical heroes to help
form the acclaimed Dan Tyminski Band. With them he recorded the 2009 IBMA Album of the Year and Grammy
nominated Wheels, made his first of many appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, and got to play at numerous
prestigious festivals such as Stagecoach, Rockygrass and Merlefest. At the end of that band’s run, Justin was
offered the banjo position with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. He played on two Ricky Skaggs records:
Country Hits: Bluegrass Style and Music To My Ears, made TV appearances on The Marty Stuart Show and Conan,
played at many festivals including New Orleans Jazzfest, Edmonton Folk Fest and Vancouver Folk Fest, and did a
tour of Europe which included Reba McEntire, Lonestar and Asleep at the Wheel.
Justin made the move to Nashville while playing with Skaggs and became an in- demand session player. He has
appeared on stage with numerous diverse artists such as Alison Krauss, Del McCoury, Emmylou Harris, Brad
Paisley, Joe Diffie, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Ralph Stanley, Bruce Hornsby, Peter Frampton and Barry Gibb. He
has been collaborating with highly notable mandolin player and singer Sierra Hull the past few years joining her on
band dates, duo and trio shows.
All of this has lead him to this point. This instrumental project is a demonstration of where he is as a musician,
exhibiting the experience gained over the last decade. He wrote all the songs, recorded the project himself and
played all the instruments. It is an expression of his artistry and a solo project in the truest sense of the word.
